| The
Game of Kabaddi is thought to be over 4000 years old and was probably
devised as a way to develop the physical strength, speed and skill
of young men; prized assets for fighting and soldiering. The game
combines both self defence from, attacking, and counter attacking
between groups and singles and although originally intended for training
men it is also now played by women. There have evolved sevral different
names (Chedugudu or Hu-Tu-Tu in southern parts of India, Hadudu (Men)
and Chu - Kit-Kit (women) in eastern India, and Kabaddi in northern
India.) and forms: in India these are Surjeevani, Gaminee and Amar
and the game is hugely popular. |
